Cedar Crest, Muhlenberg to Host “Underpinnings” Art Show
Cedar Crest College and Muhlenberg College are joining forces to present a unique art exhibit this summer. The show, titled “Underpinnings”, will feature local artists and will run simultaneously at Cedar Crest College’s Center for Visual Research and Muhlenberg’s Martin Art Gallery.
For the exhibition, gallery directors asked Lehigh Valley arts workers to submit two works of two dimensional or three dimensional art. One of the pieces will be displayed at Cedar Crest and the other will go to Muhlenberg. The show is designed to help members of the local art community look inward, share knowledge and highlight a small portion of the creative research underpinning their respective structures. Each unique exhibition will be comprised of works authored by the Lehigh Valley’s arts workers themselves, from curators and directors of institutions to registrars, security and gallery preparators.
“Underpinnings” will open at Cedar Crest’s Center for Visual Research on May 25, and at the Martin Art Gallery June 5. For more information, please contact Paul Nicholson at paulnicholson@muhlenberg.edu or Brian Wiggins at bwwiggin@cedarcrest.edu.
