You will find the heart of service learning on the Cedar Crest Campus in the Lutz Center for Community Service located in Blaney Hall, Rooms 3 A & B.
Providing the campus community with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to recognize, advocate and effect positive social change in an ever transforming global society is the mission of the Lutz Center for Community Service which is based on a social justice model which recognizes the need for fair treatment of individuals and groups and a just share for all in society. We assist students in developing an awareness of and commitment to their community through direct and indirect service and educational program offerings. In addition, the Center Director and the student service coordinators are excellent resources for discussing the opportunities available to match your schedule and interests. Most activities require only one to two hours a week and transportation is usually provided. The staff is committed to helping students find sites and experiences in their community where their talent and commitment are needed.
The Community Service Coordinators present workshops and programs that address societal problems such as education, hunger, homelessness and illiteracy. Presentations may be scheduled for your organization, agency, or classroom by contacting the Lutz Center. The Lutz Center is committed to helping everyone fulfill their community service aspirations. If there is a specific community service project you would like to do, please do not hesitate to call.
