AMERICA READS/ AMERICA COUNTS

America Reads/America Counts is a federal work-study program created to help children learn to read and learn arithmetic.  At Cedar Crest College, students work as tutors at a variety of after school programs throughout Allentown. 

All Cedar Crest students involved in this program participate in tutoring of Kindergarten through 8th grade children with a focus on early elementary school students.  Cedar Crest College staff and program providers conduct a diversity of workshops for the tutors. These workshops help the students become creative, effective, caring tutors for the children.

For any students interested in working with the America Reads/America Counts program, an application and an interview are required.
