Why Spanish?
The Spanish program at Cedar Crest College provides excellent instruction in Spanish language acquisition, as well as the study of Hispanic cultures and literatures. It also provides a variety of learning opportunities in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, including study abroad. Here are a few reasons to consider adding a Spanish major or minor to your degree.
- The number of native Spanish speakers in the United States is growing rapidly. Bilingual college graduates can gain a competitive edge by adding translation and interpretation skills to their resume.
- If you’ve taken a few semesters of Spanish in high school, add a major or minor to continue your studies. Students are placed at the appropriate difficulty level using language software. Learn more about advanced placement.
- Learning a second language can help you to excel in other academic areas. Studying a foreign language has been shown to improve concentration, memorization, and even English grammar.
- Discover a new culture! In today’s global society, it has become even more important to understand cultural differences and different points of view. Cedar Crest students will be tomorrow’s leaders, and they will need a well-rounded view of the world and its people.
