Iggy McGovern

On Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 7 to 8 p.m., Iggy McGovern, poet and physicist at Trinity College, Dublin, will give a poetry reading followed by a book signing, both open to the public, in the Harmon Hall of Peace at Cedar Crest College.

Iggy McGovern is an Irish poet and a Fellow Emeritus in the School of Physics at Trinity College, Dublin. He has published three collections of poetry, The King of Suburbia and Safe House, both with Dedalus Press, and A Mystic Dream of 4, with Quaternia Press; The King of Suburbia won the inaugural Glen Dimplex New Writers Award for Poetry. His other awards include the Hennessy Award for Poetry and The Ireland Chair of Poetry Bursary.

His most recent book, A Mystic Dream of 4, is a sonnet sequence based on the life of William Rowan Hamilton, 19th century Irish mathematician and poet. He has also edited the anthology 2012: Twenty Irish Poets Respond to Science in Twelve Lines, published by Dedalus Press in association with Quaternia Press, and co-edited (with Jean-Patrick Connerade) Science Meets Poetry 3, published by Euroscience. His poetry explores the common ground between science and literature.
